Boards and Commissions

The boards, commissions, and committees are made of up of Creswell citizens, business owners, and city council members to handle specific issues and create solutions. Community members and business owners serve in a volunteer capacity. These work groups are made up of individuals that are passionate about maintaining Creswell's friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Why Serve on a Committee?

  • Serving on a board, commission, or a committee is a great way to get involved with the community and learn about the issues it faces.

  • It is an opportunity to get to know city council members and provide ideas and feedback for them to consider when making decisions.

  • It is an educational experience that allows those serving to learn how local government makes decisions regarding policies, ordinances, etc.

Park & Tree Advisory Board

The Parks and Tree Advisory Board consists of seven (7) members who are appointed by the Mayor with consent of the Council and serves as an advisory body to the Council.  The Parks & Trees Advisory Board meets on an as-needed basis and as directed by the Council.  This board advises the Council in developing, planning for, and maintaining the various parks, open space, trees, and recreational facilities in which the City of Creswell has an interest.

Charge: a) At the first meeting, select a Chair and Secretary.  Keep minutes of all meetings and submit them to the City Recorder; b) At the first meeting, review Chapter 12.20 Street Trees and Parks and Trees Advisory Board from the City Municipal Code and Ordinance No. 493 Creating a Parks & Trees Advisory Board; c) Review the Creswell Tree Care Plan for action steps that need implementation; d) Plan the Arbor Day Celebration; e) Discuss further ways to enhance and promote Creswell parks. 

Timeline: a) Report on the Tree Care Plan action steps at the March Council work session; b) Present new ideas for enhancing and promoting Creswell parks at a future work session to be scheduled with the Mayor and City Manager; c) Provide monthly reports at work sessions on the Arbor Day Celebration and the promotion of Creswell parks.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission consists of seven members who are appointed by the Mayor, and is a governing body of the City.  The Planning Commission makes determinations and recommendations regarding land use and development within the City.  In addition, it is the duty of the commission to study, plan for and make recommendations to the City Council regarding the promotion, coordination and regulation of future growth, and development of the City and adjacent area.  The Planning Commission meets on the third Thursday of each month. 

Charge: At the first meeting, select a Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary.  Keep minutes of all meetings and submit them promptly to the City Recorder.  Continue work as directed in enacting Ordinance

Airport Commission

The Airport Commission consists of five members who are appointed by the Mayor with consent of the Council, and serves as an advisory body to the Council.  The Airport Commission meets at least once per calendar quarter.  This commission recommends adoption of rules and regulations pertaining to maintenance of airport facilities, number and location of airport hangars, commercial usage of the airport, along with safety regulations and long range planning and development.

Charge: a) At the first meeting, select a Chair and review Chapter 2.35 Airport Commission from the City Municipal Code (Note that the Council representative cannot serve as Chair.  Airport Manager Humble serves as clerk/recorder to keep minutes and submit them to the City Recorder); b) Review the work done in 2022 on updating the Airport Vision; c) Review the work done in 2022 on updating the Airport Rules and Regulations.

Timeline: a) Present the updated Airport Rules and Regulations at the February City Council work session; b) Present the updated Airport Vision at the April City Council work session; c) Provide monthly reports at Council work sessions.

Public Safety Committee

The City of Creswell Public Safety Committee meets to fulfill the charge given by the Mayor each year.  The committee consists of three City Councilors and is supported by city staff.  The Public Safety Committee has been charged in recent years with providing recommendations to the City Council on financing public safety, planning the Public Safety Fair, and assisting with National Night Out. The Public Safety Committee has looked into a public safety levy to provide contracted policing services to a level that would provide 24/7 coverage within city limits.

Water Rate Advisory Committee
