The City of Creswell is proud to welcome Clark Kent to City Council! Clark was nominated by Councilor Nick Smith at the December 18th, 2023 Special Meeting of the City Council. The nomination was seconded by Councilor Staci Holt and the remaining council members voted in favor of the motion, resulting in a unanimous vote. This will be Clark Kent’s first time serving on the Creswell City Council after having volunteered on the Budget Committee for five years. Welcome to city council! Clark will be sworn in at the January 8, 2024 meeting and looks forward to serving the people of Creswell!

City Council Special Meeting Recap December 18th, 2023
Discussion whether or not to reconsider the appointment of Christina Allen to the Creswell City Council Council President Alonzo Costilla called the meeting to order and announced an excused absence for Mayor Dave Stram. Councilor Nick Smith moved to reconsider the appointment of Christina Allen on the basis of potential conflict of interest that had not been disclosed during her interview at the December 11th, 2023 City Council Meeting. The motion was seconded by Councilor Staci Holt. The remainder of the council voted in favor of Councilor Smith’s motion, resulting in a 5-0 vote. The motion passed.
Discussion whether or not to reconsider the appointment of Christina Allen to the Creswell City Council Councilor Nick Smith moved to withdraw the initial nomination of Christina Allen on the basis of an undisclosed potential conflict of interest and nominate Clark Kent to the vacant position. Councilor Staci Holt seconded the motion. The remaining three council members voted in the motion’s favor, resulting in a vote of  5-0. The motion passed.
Appointment of Clark Kent to  the Creswell City Council Councilor Nick Smith moved to appoint Clark Kent to the vacant position. The motion was seconded by Councilor Shelly Clark. The remaining members of the City Council voted in favor of Councilor Smith’s motion, resulting in a vote of 5-0. The motion passed. Councilor Clark went on to share Clark Kent’s qualifications, such as his time volunteering on the City of Creswell Budget Committee, with the council and members of the audience. Clark Kent will be sworn in at the January 8th, 2024  City Council Meeting.
