Hi, my awesome two-legged friends! It’s me, your happy dog, here to share some fun tips to keep you safe this Halloween! I love seeing all your cool costumes and yummy treats, but let’s make sure you have a super fun time while being safe! First, watch out for those costumes! If they have long, loose parts, you might trip—just like I need to see well to catch my favorite squirrels! When you go trick-or-treating, wear bright colors so everyone can see you in the dark—no one wants to get lost! And remember to stick with your friends or family, just like I stay close to my humans when we walk. It’s always safer together! When you get home, check your treats for anything that looks funny (no chocolate for me, please!). And if you have furry friends like me at home, make sure we have a nice, quiet spot to relax away from all the excitement. Lastly, remember to say “thank you” when you get your treats—being kind makes Halloween even better! Happy howling! FUN HALLOWEEN READS At the Creswell Library! Reading Halloween books is so much fun! You can dive into spooky stories, meet silly ghosts, and go on exciting adventures! At the Creswell Library, there are so many great Halloween books (like these!) just waiting for you! You can explore the shelves, find a cozy spot, and let your imagination run wild. So grab a book and get ready for a frightfully fun reading experience this Halloween! The Littlest Pumpkin by Brandi Dougherty Pete the Cat: Trick or Pete by James Dean I’m Not Scary by Raahat Kaduji Clifford’s Halloween by Norman Bridwell
SPOOKY JOKES Why did the ghost go to the party? Because he heard it was going to be a boo-last! What do you call a witch’s favorite subject in school? Spelling! Why don’t skeletons fight each other? They don’t have the guts! Why did the mummy take a vacation? He needed to unwind! Why was the broom late? It swept in! Super FUN STUFF! Did YOU KNOW? Did you know that “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” is 58 years old this Halloween? That’s right! This classic cartoon first aired on October 27, 1966, and it’s still just as fun today! City of Creswell 13 South 1st Street P.O. BOX 276 Creswell, OR 97426 541-895-2531 You can watch it on Apple TV or on DVD. Common Reasons for High Utility Bills High utility bills can be frustrating, and there are several common reasons for them. Here are some to consider: Leaky Fixtures: Dripping faucets, leaking toilets, or showerheads can waste a significant amount of water over time. Running Toilets: A toilet that continuously runs can lead to a major increase in water usage. Irrigation System Issues: Broken sprinkler heads or timers set incorrectly can cause overwatering in your yard. Increased Usage: Seasonal changes, such as watering the garden in the summer or filling a pool, can naturally raise your water consumption. Water Main Leaks: Undetected leaks in your home’s plumbing or the municipal water supply can lead to higher bills. Guest Usage: Extra people in your home can increase water usage significantly, especially if they use laundry and shower facilities. Appliance Upgrades: New washing machines or dishwashers that are not water-efficient may use more water than older models. Changing Habits: Any changes in your daily habits, like longer showers or more laundry loads, can also contribute to higher bills.
